Can you wear a short black dress when you are no longer in your teens or
twenties and still look appropriate? You dont need to start dressing like your
favorite granny the minute you hit the ripe old age of 29 do you? I dont think
so. You can wear a short black dress well into your senior discount years if you
have the legs for it. You might be thinking that I am talking about barely there
mini dresses. I most certainly am not. No one should wear those. They are just
tacky. So, what length should you be looking for?
A Longer Short Black Dress
You dont need to worry about you behind showing in a nice short dress. A classy
short black dress is going to hit you somewhere between one inch above the knee
to about one inch below the knee. It is generally more flattering to keep that
hem from hitting right at the knee, since the knee area tents to be a bit knobby
and you dont need to draw the eye to that. Some would consider this length to
be a mid length, but it truly is as short as you should consider wearing and
still be taken seriously.
Accessories for a Grown Up Short Black Dress
You are a grown up, you have a grown up short little black dress, and you need
to accessories with grown up accessories. When you get older you need to start
collecting quality fashionable items that you can be proud to wear for many
years rather than cheap trendy items that will look dated and sad next season. I
nice versatile shawl or piece of jewelry might actually save you money in the
long run. Think of what is classic. A nice set a pears is a good investment. |
