Whether you are a girl in your teens or a woman in her forties, doing the rounds
of parlors every month, for getting your legs waxed, would be a normal routine.
What happens when you get invited to a party suddenly and the parlor is closed
on that day? Disaster!! Isn't it! Rather than giving up the party altogether or
wearing uncomfortable clothes that fully cover your legs, why don't you try
waxing your legs at home instead? How? We will tell you! Go through the
following lines and find easy steps on how to wax your own legs, along with some
great tips.
Waxing Your Legs At Home
Supplies Needed
* Wax
* Wax Heater
* Wax Spatula (for spreading)
* Wax Strips
* Electric Hair Trimmer (optional)
* Exfoliating Scrub
* Baby Powder
* Moisturizing Lotion (with salycylic acid)
* Soft Towel
* Water
Instructions
* You should attempt to wax your own legs only when your hair grows long enough.
Remember, you need to have at least 1/4 inch-long hair growth, to ensure proper
hair removal. In case the hair is too long, make use of an electric hair trimmer
to shorten the length.
* Two days before waxing your legs, you need to give them a proper exfoliation
treatment. This will help remove the dead skin. However, do make sure not to use
the scrub just before waxing, as it might irritate the skin and lead to
inflammation.
* Start the waxing procedure by heating the wax. Majority of the women make use
of a wax heater for the purpose. However, you can also keep the wax in microwave
or immerse it in a container of warm water.
* Now, you will need to apply a light amount of baby powder to one of the legs,
which you plan to wax first. The powder will help remove the oils from your
skin, thus allowing the wax to stick better.
* Now, dip the spatula in wax and remove the excess wax. Apply the wax, in a
small section, in the direction of hair growth. It is advisable to hold the
stick at a 90-degree angle and apply a smooth, thin layer.
* Almost as soon as you apply the wax, take a strip and keep it on top of the
layer and press it. Smooth down the strip with your hands, again moving in the
direction of hair growth.
* After the wax strip has been smoothened, it is the time to peel it off. For
the purpose, strip off in the opposite direction of hair growth. While doing
this, try to keep the strip as close to skin as possible.
* Immediately after removing the strip, apply pressure on the waxed area, with
your hands. After a few seconds, apply a lotion on the area, containing
salycylic acid. It will help prevent ingrown hairs.
* Repeat the procedure on the other section of your leg. Similarly, wax the
other leg as well. After the waxing is over, dip a soft towel in cold water and
wipe your legs with it.
Tip
* If you have been left with excess wax on the body, after waxing, use body oil
to remove the same. Never ever try to remove wax with hot water. It will harm
your skin instead. |
